Friends of Van Cortlandt Park, a nonprofit organization that advocates for and provides programming and activities at the sprawling northwest Bronx park, are holding a celebration and fundraiser tonight, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Bronx Ale House (216 W. 238th St.) to celebrate 20 years of existence and service. It’s $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Ticket price will include: your first beer, a “Celebrating 20 Years” FVCP pint glass, appetizers and Happy Hour prices.
A few things FVCP are involved in:
- They created a map of Van Cortlandt Park that you can download for free.
- They are petitioning the city to make good on a promise to build a pedestrian bridge over the Major Deegan, which would connect the Old Aqueduct Trail that extends from Croton Lake in Westchester to the High Bridge in the Bronx.
- They are holding an online auction to raise funds for trail restoration.
