Bronx Notes: African and Muslim Community Enrichment Day

Bronx Council Member Helen Diane Foster and the 16th District African and Muslim Council host the 3rd annual Community Enrichment Day this Thursday, Oct. 11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This event will take place at The Bronx Museum of the Arts, Lower Gallery, located at 1040 Grand Concourse (at 165th Street). The purpose of the event is to depict and focus on the advancements and growth of the African and Muslim community occurring in the Bronx, and their contributions to the community. New York City Council Citations of Merits will be awarded to “Rising Stars” and “Longevity in Leadership.”

“This community has been on the rise as far as self-empowerment and community development,” Foster said in a press release. “As we approach the third year, they do not appear to be slowing down.” Foster also said this event is beneficial in because it provides information from city agencies and community-based organizations, and serves as a great tool for networking with others. Foster says “there will be information tables, speakers, presentations, cultural performances and food.”
