Though we’re still living through a pandemic, another welcome sign that life is slowly returning to normal is the return, for the 2021 season, of The Bronx Night Market, a spring to fall smorgasbord laid on by a range of food vendors who line Fordham Plaza, as visitors sample the savory delicacies of different, local eateries.
The 2021 season kicked off on Saturday, April 4, and featured a rotating line-up of over fifty vendors from 20 countries, including “Crabman Mike’s Famous Uptown Crab and Seafood Boil,” “Downeast Lobstah,” and “Fried Lasagna Mama.” As many as twenty individual eateries are expected to take part in the market each week.
The opening comes as more than 10 million vaccines have gone into the arms of New Yorkers while, at the same time, health department officials are reporting that the COVID-19, 7-day average positivity rate in New York State is currently up 50 percent from last week.
The Bronx Night Market, which began in 2018, is open every Saturday through November 13, and the market’s website hints at an announcement for a “Winter Series.” The Bronx Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the market for the spring to fall season.
The Bronx Night Market is based opposite 1 Fordham Road Plaza, at East Fordham Road and Third Avenue.
