Welcome back to another edition of the Bronx News Roundup, here are the stories we’re following today, starting with the weather: this afternoon’s beautiful, almost 70 conditions will likely give way to rain tonight.
We’ll start with the hard-rocking Tour de Bronx video put together by the borough president’s office:
After authorities tracked him down in Miami, Joseph Kerzigan, the man police suspected of killing his estranged wife and her lover at a Bronx hotel early Saturday morning, shot and killed himself before police had a chance to arrest him, the NY Post reports.
On top of FreshDirect’s pending move to the Bronx (which is being delayed by legal challenges from local activists who are against their plan to take space on the South Bronx waterfront for environmental and access reasons), four other food companies are planning to transfer operations to the borough with the aid of government tax breaks, the Daily News reports.

NYC’s former top cop Bernie Kerik, getting a break from his incarceration in a Maryland federal prison, got all emotional during his testimony this week at a trial in Bronx County Court. He’s being forced to testify against the contractors who did work on his Riverdale apartment for free and then allegedly lied about it to federal prosecutors.
A program at the Montefiore-Einstein Center for Cancer Care is building supportive friendships among its patients, the Daily News reports.

And finally, the Yankees, down 3-0 in its best of seven series with the Detroit Tigers, look to stave off elimination tonight in Detroit. They’ll be trying to do it without iconic shortstop Derek Jeter (broken ankle) and maligned third baseman Alex Rodriguez, who is being benched in favor of back-up Eric Chavez. A-Rod, who is owed something like eleventy bagillion dollars over the next five years of his outrageous contract, has become the poster child for the Bronx Bombers’ flagging (ok, downright atrocious) postseason offense (even though other stars, like Robinson Cano and Cutis Granderson, how both been equally terrible). Once considered one of the best players in the history of pro baseball, Rodriguez’s Yankee career could end tonight (trade rumors are swirling) with the aging slugger sitting in the dugout.[Times]
