As if the tragic shooting in Colorado wasn’t enough, a 4-year-old Bronx boy, identified as Lloyd Morgan, was shot in the head by a stray bullet and killed during a shootout in Morrisania on Sunday night. Police say an argument erupted during a basketball tournament at Forest Houses and two people began firing at each other. Two other people were expected to survive after being shot during the melee. European soccer teams Chelsea (England) and Paris Saint-Germain (France) played to a 1-1 tie at Yankee Stadium yesterday. [Daily News]
The Daily News reports that the NYPD is putting more cops in Bronx (and Queens) subway stations overnight in an attempt to fight rising transit crime, especially the theft of electronic devices like iPhones.
The NY Post says it caught two Bronx public high schools cheating students and the system during summer school.
Jose Linares, a Bronx car wash worker, told the Daily News he’s earning less than minimum wage while working at a car wash on Webster Avenue and 174th Street and is now planning to join a Tuesday rally in support of fellow low-wage workers.
