Welcome back to the Bronx News Roundup. These are the Bronx stories we’re following this Monday, Dec. 17.
This isn’t specifically Bronx-related, but, in the wake of the unspeakable tragedy in Connecticut on Friday morning, Mayor Bloomberg is renewing his push for increased gun control (see video above). President Obama offered his condolences to the victims’ families in Newtown last night and also called for action to prevent similar future mass shootings, the NY Times reports.

The victim, who was shot in the arm, is expected to make a full recovery. The school, which sits on a campus with other schools that have many at-risk students, does not have metal detectors.
Five rare Chinese yellow-headed box turtles have recently hatched at the Bronx Zoo, the Wall Street Journal reports.
According to the Daily News, the Best Italian Sausage in New York is in the Bronx: Teitel Brothers on (where else?) Arthur Avenue.
