The investigations continue after numerous shooting incidents took place throughout the city on Tuesday night, a day marked as “National Night Out Against Crime”. [NY1]

Local politicians and residents are criticizing the lack of public review for a new City Island bridge. Among the complaints are the proposed bridge’s modern design and a budget that has swelled from $32 million to $149 million, according to the Daily News.

Police are looking for three men who tore an infant from his mother during a home-invasion robbery on University Ave. The baby was treated at the hospital and released. The suspects were caught on tape during the robbery, which took place on July 25. [Daily News]

No charges are expected to be filed against a nine-year-old who accidentally dropped his 3-month-old sister out a window, according to the New York Post. The incident is still under investigation, however, and Children’s Services removed the other six children from the family’s Bronx apartment.

Two mobile computer labs roam between 19 NYCHA developments, including 10 sites in the Bronx, providing free Internet access to residents, nearly 40 percent of whom lack home Internet access. [DNAinfo]

Sixties pop icon Lesley Gore, the woman behinds the hit “It’s My Party”, helped kids from the South Bronx Kids Helping Kids peer-mentoring program film a rap music video. The song, “Pull Up Your Pants,” was written by Tarik Carr, a program participant. [Daily News]

A community garden is blooming in the Allerton Co-ops in the Bronx, the site of a recent drug bust by the NYPD, the Daily News is reporting.

Nearly 50,000 soccer fans packed Yankee Stadium last night to watch football powerhouses Real Madrid and AC Milan. With two goals, Cristiano Ronaldo led Real Madrid to a 5-1 victory over AC Milan. [ESPN]

In other soccer news, this writer wants everyone to watch this afternoon’s gold medal women’s soccer match between Team USA and Japan, a rematch of last summer’s World Cup final. Japan won that round in penalty kicks, and the Americans, the two-time defending gold medalists, are looking for redemption. [New York Times]
