The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was captured on surveillance video, and the defendant later confessed to the killing, saying he shot the victim over money.
Announcing the indictment via a press release, Clark said, “The defendant allegedly fatally shot the victim over a money dispute. We are working hard to bring justice to victims, and this indictment shows wrongdoers will be held accountable at the end of the day.” She added, “Our focus is on ending gun violence in the Bronx.”
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney, John Miras, counsel in the homicide bureau, under the supervision of Christine Scaccia, chief of the homicide bureau, and under the overall supervision of both James Brennan, deputy chief of the trial division, and Theresa Gottlieb, chief of the trial division. An indictment does not mean a person is guilty of a crime.
Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story included a different victim name. The Bronx District Attorney’s Office has since issued a corrected press release and has advised that the victim was incorrectly identified in the prior release.
