Nicholas Colon, age 37, of The Bronx was sentenced on Thursday, July 25, to 46 months in prison for conspiring to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute it, according to federal prosecutors based in Albany.
U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of New York based in Albany and Frank A. Tarentino III, special agent in charge of the New York division of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), made the announcement.
They said Colon previously admitted to driving in tandem with Kenny Gonzalez from Long Island to Queens, where they picked up approximately two kilograms of cocaine from their drug supplier. They said Colon and Gonzalez then drove north to Ulster County, where they were stopped with the cocaine, and Colon admitted he and Gonzalez intended to distribute the cocaine in the Northern District of New York.
U.S. District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby also imposed a 4-year-term of supervised release. Suddaby previously sentenced Gonzalez to 60 months in prison and a 4-year-term of supervised release.
The DEA investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Reiner prosecuted.
