Police in the Bronx have identified a suspect wanted for robbing at least eight women in the Norwood section and surrounding neighborhoods. The man, known by police but unidentified by the public, remains at large.

Officers with the 52nd Precinct’s Neighborhood Coordination Officers assigned to Sector C, where the majority of the crimes happened, are now patrolling the neighborhood during the day. Six of the eight robberies have happened during the day time, with two happening in the late hours. Sector C usually covers West Gun Hill Road to Webster Avenue at Mosholu Parkway and from Goulden Avenue south to Kingsbridge Road and west to east along East 196th Street.

“He has been identified,” Crime Prevention Officer Frank Pacella of the 52nd Precinct. “We believe he pawned some stolen property. We’ve been able to get an ID off that. Hopefully, with the help of warrants he will be apprehended.”

Police have since stopped by the home of the suspect, who was not there. Police said the suspect does lives within the 47th Precinct. The neighboring stationhouse covers Woodlawn, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Baychester, Edenwald and Olinville.

The suspect has struck throughout the month of October and first week of November. In once instance he knocked a woman to the ground at the corner of Grand Concourse and East 204th Street and took $1,300 in cash.

Video surveillance taken Oct. 21 shows the suspect walking down the street.

“He knows we’re looking for him,” Pacella said.

Despite the eight robberies reported, statistics show overall robberies have dropped 25 percent over the last year within the Five-Two. The precinct covers Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham, and University Heights.
