Bronx Civil Court Judgeship Election: NYC Fire Officers Endorse Yadhira Gonzalez-Taylor

The New York City Fire Officers’ Association (UFOA) announced its endorsement on Sunday, June 6, of judicial candidate, Yadhira Gonzalez-Taylor, in her run for a civil court judgeship in Bronx County’s Second Municipal Court District, marking the candidate’s second union endorsement from a major city union.

The New York City Fire Officers’ Association (UFOA) announced its endorsement on Sunday, June 6, of judicial candidate, Yadhira Gonzalez-Taylor, in her run for a civil court judgeship in Bronx County’s Second Municipal Court District, marking the candidate’s second union endorsement from a major city union.

 

Jake Lamonda, president of the UFOA, wrote in the letter of endorsement, “The executive board of the UFOA unanimously and enthusiastically voted to endorse life-long New Yorker, Yadhira Gonzalez-Taylor, an ambitious attorney and long-time advocate for civil servants.” The letter continued, “Her experience, commitment to justice, and passion for public service will make her an excellent Judge for the Bronx County Civil Court.”

 

Gonzalez-Taylor previously received endorsements from the Uniform Firefighters Association (UFA) which represents 11,000 uniformed firefighters, the Riverdale-based civic group, Concerned Citizens for Change, The North West Bronx Democrats, Progressive Women of New York, among other Bronx based community leaders.

 

The 2nd municipal court district covers the entire west side of Bronx County from north to south, encompassing the neighborhoods of Bedford Park, Belmont, Claremont Village, Crotona, Fieldston, Fordham Heights, Highbridge, Kingsbridge Heights, Morrisania, Morris Heights, Mott Haven, Mount Hope, Norwood, Riverdale, Spuyten Duyvil, Woodlawn, and Woodlawn Heights.

 

Voting begins on June 22, 2021, and early voting starts on June 12.
