Update: Board of Elections Announces List of Candidates for June 2021 Primary Elections

On Thursday, April 29, the New York City Board of Elections (BOE) published the list of candidates who had made the ballot for the various June 22, 2021 primary elections. Screenshots of the lists of candidates in each race are attached below for both the Citywide and Bronx races.

A calendar of the timeline for early voting, absentee voting etc. is listed further below also.

District 11

As reported previously, Jessica Haller recently announced that she would not be running in the District 11 race.

  • incumbent Councilman Oswald Feliz
  • Kenny Agosto, district director to New York State Senator Jamaal T. Bailey
  • Ischia Bravo, Bronx Community Board 7 District Manager
  • Bernadette Ferrara, president of the Van Nest Neighborhood Alliance
  • Latchmi Gopal, a community organizer and former staffer for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders
  • Arial Rivera-Diaz, a former finance clerk with the City’s Board of Elections and former official at the Republican National Hispanic Assembly
  • John Sanchez, Bronx Community Board 6 District Manager
  • Troy Blackwell, a former White House and Obama administration aide

 

As reported previously, Latchmi Gopal and Kenny Agosto have both withdrawn from the District 15 primary, and District 15 special election candidate, Elisa Crespo, confirmed previously that she would not be running in the primary. The special election was held on March 23.

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students.
