Belmont: Two Sought in Murder Probe following Fatal Shooting

POLICE ARE SEEKING the public’s help identifying these two people who are sought for questioning following a fatal shooting in the Belmont section of The Bronx on Monday, Feb. 13, 2023.

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the two people seen in the attached photo who are sought for questioning in connection to the fatal shooting in the Belmont section of The Bronx of Miguel Vargas, 22, of Tiebout Avenue in Fordham Heights, as reported.

 

An NYPD spokesperson said that on Monday, Feb. 13, at around 6.57 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a male victim who had been shot at 689 East 187th Street.

 

“Two unknown individuals arrived at the location on motorized scooter,” the spokesperson said in reference to the incident. “The passenger of the scooter discharged multiple rounds from a firearm, striking the victim multiple times.” The spokesperson said the passenger then got back on the scooter and both individuals fled southbound on Beaumont Avenue.

 

EMS responded and transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, police said. The first person sought by police was described as a male with a light complexion who was last seen wearing a black jacket with the hood up, and red and white sneakers.

 

The second sought individual was described as a male with a light complexion who was last seen wearing a black jacket with the hood up.
