The FDNY responded to a three-alarm fire at a commercial location at 4410 Park Avenue in the Belmont section of the Bronx on Sunday, Jan. 16, at around 10 a.m., the same time that a prayer / funeral service was taking place for the 17 victims, including 8 children, of the Fordham Heights fire which broke out on Sunday, Jan. 9, at which large crowds were seen filling the streets.
According to the FDNY, the fire was brought under control at around 11.23 a.m. on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the FDNY also reported on Twitter that a fire was also reported at a commercial location at 446 East 181st Street, also in Belmont, also on Sunday, Jan. 16, at 10.30 a.m. The location is very close to the building reported in relation to the Park Avenue fire and at this time, it is unclear if the two fires are related or if in fact, they are the same fire.

On Monday, Jan. 17, the FDNY confirmed that units responded to 2747 Bronxwood Avenue in the Bronx, at 00:48 a.m. regarding a report of fire on the first floor of a two-story, private dwelling. The incident was brought under control at 01:59 a.m. There were a total of 17 patients evaluated and treated.
Thirteen people refused medical attention, four had non-life threatening injuries and were brought to Jacobi. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by fire marshals.
Norwood News is continuing to follow up with the FDNY on the cause of the fire.
