Belmont: Search for Group following Fatal Shooting of 62-Year-Old Man

A murder investigation is underway following the fatal shooting of a 62-year-old man in Belmont.

 

On Monday, July 4, at approximately 10.26 p.m., police said officers responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot in front of 2431 Prospect Avenue, located in the 48th Precinct.

 

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 62-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the chest, along with two additional victims,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.”

 

The spokesperson added, “A second victim, a 23-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the right leg, was also transported by EMS to Saint Barnabas Hospital and is listed in stable condition. A third victim, a 26-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the right arm, arrived via private means to Saint Barnabas Hospital and is listed in stable condition. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.”

 

The deceased has been identified as John Edwards of Prospect Avenue, Belmont, in The Bronx.

 

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police said on Wednesday, July 6, the individuals in the vehicle seen in the attached video are being sought for questioning in connection with the murder investigation.
