Following the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man in Belmont last month, as reported, the NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached surveillance photos regarding the incident.
Police said that on Sunday, Feb. 26, at approximately 1.24 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired at 526 East 183rd Street and Bathgate Avenue, where they said a 25-year-old male victim got into a dispute with an unidentified person who took out a gun and shot the victim, striking him multiple times. The individual fled the location by foot on Bathgate Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers observed the man, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wounds to the head and left-side, an NYPD spokesperson said. “EMS responded and transported the aided male to St. Barnabas hospital where he was pronounced deceased.” He was later identified as Achilles Baskin of Claremont Village in The Brronx.
The individual sought is described as male, is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 175 pounds, is between 44-45 years of age and was last seen wearing all black clothing, a black and blue coat, and a black fanny pack.
Earlier this month, also in Belmont, as reported, two people were sought following a separate fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man from Fordham Heights on Feb. 13.
