A 21-year-old man has died from gunshot wounds and a 22-year-old man who was also shot has been hospitalized following a shooting incident in the Belmont section of The Bronx on Sunday, police said.
The NYPD said that on Sunday, March 19, at around 1.48 a.m., officers from the 48th Precinct responded to a 311 call regarding multiple people who had been shot in front of 610 East 187th Street.
“Upon arrival, there were no victims observed at the location,” a police spokesperson said. “A preliminary investigation led officers to discover two males with gunshots wounds in front of 2371 Hughes Avenue (also in Belmont).”
The NYPD said the first victim, a 21-year-old male, sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest and was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. “The second victim, a 22-year-old male, sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas in stable condition,” the spokesperson said. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
