Belmont: Man Sought following Fatal Shooting of Second 30-Year-Old Man

The NYPD has launched a murder investigation into the death of a 30-year-old man following a shooting in Belmont on Wednesday, May 8. They are asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached video and photos who they say is sought for questioning in connection with the incident.

 

Police said that on May 8 at around 6.32 p.m., officers from the 48th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a person who had been shot at the intersection of East 187th Street and Beaumont Avenue.

“Upon arrival, officers observed the victim, a 30-year-old male, with a gunshot wound to the head,” a police spokesperson said. “The victim was removed by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.”

The deceased was identified as Jeffrey Lopez of Southern Boulevard in Belmont.

On May 9, pursuant to an ongoing investigation, detectives submitted additional media showing the person sought for questioning in connection with this incident.
