NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) have launched an affordable housing lottery for units at 2330 Cambreleng Avenue, an 8-story, mixed-use building in the Belmont section (Little Italy) of The Bronx.

Designed by IMC Architecture and developed by Global Management, the structure yields 45 residential units, community facility space, and 13 parking spots. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 14 units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $75,738 to $198,250.

According to YIMBY, units come equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, and name-brand kitchen appliances, countertops, and finishes. Tenants are responsible for electricity.

According to HPD, building amenities include a recreation room, gym, bike storage lockers, covered parking, electric car charging stations, security cameras, and on-site laundry facilities. Pets weighing up to 25 pounds are allowed, with additional fees applying. Tenants are responsible for electricity including electric stove and heat. Hot water is included with the rent.

At 130 percent of the AMI, there are three studios with a monthly rent of $2,209 for those earning incomes ranging from $75,738 to $146,900; four one-bedroom units with a monthly rent of $2,242 for residents with incomes ranging from $76,869 to $165,230; and seven two-bedroom units with a monthly rent of $2,505 for those on incomes ranging from $85,886 to $198,250.

Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments, according to HPD. The latest announced closing date is Feb. 5 but the dates are frequently extended.

According to HPD, in addition to the abundance of greenery, the housing project is conveniently located next to the largest hospitals and universities offering cultural diversity. The building is anticipated to receive a tax exemption through HPD’s 421a tax incentive program.

No deposits or application fees apply. More information can be found here or on NYC Housing Connect. Apply online here or to request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to 2330 Cambreleng Avenue Apartments C/O Reside New York, 349 Keap Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211.

THIS CHART AIMS to help residents understand the AMI income categories used by New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development to determine eligibility for affordable housing, which vary by household size.

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students.
