Belmont: Housing Lottery Launches for Units at 2321 Belmont Avenue

NYC Department of Housing, Preservation & Development (HPD) has launched an affordable housing lottery for units at a 7-story, mixed-use building 2321 Belmont Avenue in the Belmont section of The Bronx, as reported by YIMBY.

Designed by Sion Consulting Engineering, the structure yields 42 residential units, and available on NYC Housing Connect, HPD’s online portal, are 13 units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $72,000 to $167,570.

Amenities include covered parking with assigned parking spaces and electric car charging stations, bike storage lockers, and common area Wi-Fi, according to HPD.

 

Units come equipped with washers and dryers, dishwashers, air conditioning, name-brand kitchen appliances, countertops, and finishes. Tenants are responsible for electricity.

At 130 percent of the AMI, there are six one-bedroom units with a monthly rent of $1,950, for incomes ranging from $66,858 to $156,130 and seven two-bedroom units with a monthly rent of $2,250, for incomes ranging from $77,143 to $187,330.

 

Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than Oct. 19, 2022.

Applications are accepted both online or in the email, according to NYC Housing Connect. To request an application by mail, HPD officials are requesting applicants to send a self-addressed envelope to MGNY Consulting, c/o 2321 Belmont Avenue Apartments, 109 East 9th Street, Storefront, NY, NY 10003.

 

Do not apply online and by mail. Choose only one method. Tenants are responsible for household electricity, including the electric stove and heat. The landlord is responsible for hot water.

The building is anticipated to receive a tax exemption under HPD’s 421a tax incentive program. No deposits or application fees apply. More information can be found at NYC Housing Connect.
