Police said a 55-year-old woman was brought to hospital and one of her two dogs died after they were struck in a hit and run incident in Bedford Park.
On Tuesday, June 14, at approximately 9.07 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision, involving a pedestrian who had been struck at the intersection of Mosholu Parkway and Paul Avenue, located in the 52nd precinct.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 55-year-old female pedestrian with a contusion to the forehead and complaint of pain to her left hand,” police said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the aided female to St. Barnabas Hospital, in stable condition.”
Police said further investigation by the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad determined a 2018 Audi sedan had been traveling along Mosholu Parkway and through the intersection of Paul Avenue, when the vehicle struck the female pedestrian, who was attempting to cross Mosholu Parkway at a marked crosswalk.
“After striking the pedestrian, the vehicle continued to travel along Mosholu Parkway,” police said, adding that there are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
The incident was also reported on the Citizens’ App and users reported that a dog had also been hit and died at the scene. Norwood News asked police if they could confirm if this was the case. A police official responded, saying, “Two dogs involved, one deceased.”
