The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the people seen in the attached images and video who they say are sought in connection with a robbery that occurred in Bedford Park.
It was reported to police said that on Thursday, Jan. 18, at around 12.20 p.m. the victim, a 34-year-old woman, was working at a fruit market located in the vicinity of Bedford Park Boulevard and the Grand Concourse, when she was approached by three unknown individuals.
They said the three displayed a knife and stole around $200 dollars from the victim. “The individuals then fled on foot eastbound on Bedford Park Boulevard,” a police spokesperson said, adding that no injuries were reported.
Social media users were quick to condemn the incident. One user of the Citizens’ App, where the three suspects were described as wearing designer coats, wrote, “Designer coats and robbing a fruit stand?”
One other user lamented the incident saying street vendors were valued in the community as their food was “way cheaper” than in traditional stores. Another said, “It’s sad that there is a man out there trying to help people, and make a living and the ghetto garbage ruin it. Thank the elected officials for bail reform. I’m sure these people had large sheets of crime.”
Another wrote, Disgusting. Man [victim] is out there trying to earn some cash and these lowlives are always at it. Hope their scooter gets run over by a car with them on it.” In response, another person wrote, “You went as far as a car. Why not a gas truck like terminator.”
Another user also appeared angry at the incident and referred to a separate apparent robbery of a donut stand. Another wrote, “There used to be rules even the lowlifes followed. No honor among thieves anymore.”
