FDNY officials said there were no injuries after a residential fire broke out in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx on Tuesday night, Sept. 10.

 

A fire department spokesperson sad the FDNY received a call on Tuesday evening at 7.49 p.m. for a report of fire / smoke at 398 Oliver Place between Decatur Avenue and Webster Avenue.

 

The fire was located on the third floor of the 6-story residential building.

FDNY officials said 12 units, comprising 60 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene and several fire trucks, along with police vehicles were seen along Oliver Place, Decatur Avenue and Webster Avenue.

 

The fire department officials said the fre was brought under control at 8.21 p.m. and the cause under investigation.

 

Norwood News spoke to some affected residents at the scene who said the fire department seemed to have difficulty opening the door of the affected apartment where the fire started and when they did, thick black smoke engulfed the corridors. Some said they had to feel their way down the stairway using only their hands to feel their way, including one older adult in his early eighties. More to follow.
