Bedford Park: Man Slashed in Face

A man was charged with slashing another man’s face in Bedford Park in the Bronx on May 12, 2020.

Police responded to a complaint about a felony assault that occurred on May 12, 2020 at approximately 00:03 a.m. at Briggs Avenue within the confines of the 52nd precinct. A 36-year-old male reported to police that he had a verbal argument with a 37-year-old male who punched and slashed the complainant in the face, causing a small laceration to the mouth area. The complainant was transferred to St. Barnabas Hospital by EMS. The suspect was taken into custody.

 

Melvin Benton, also of Briggs Avenue (though not from the same household as the complainant) was arrested and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
