FDNY officials have confirmed that a fire that broke out in a multiple dwelling building in the Bedford Park section of the Bronx is under control and there were no injuries. According to Twitter, an initial FDNY alert was raised at 10.36 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, at around 10.36 p.m., requesting all hands respond to the incident at 18 E 198th Street.
Verified videos posted to the Citizen’s App a short time later showed multiple fire trucks at the scene with one ladder extended to reach one of the higher level floors of a high-rise, building.

Citizen users reported on the app that firefighters were working to put out a fire on the third-floor of the building. This was later confirmed by FDNY officials.
At 10.57 p.m., the FDNY reported, via Twitter, that the fire in Apt 1C on the third floor of Building A was under control.
Norwood News reached out to the FDNY directly to obtain the status of any injuries, as well as the cause of the incident.

FDNY later confirmed that they received a call regarding the fire at 10.20 p.m. at 18 East 198th Street and Creston Avenue in Bedford Park and were on the scene in 3 minutes and 32 seconds. The fire broke out in a 6-story 50×100 occupied multiple dwelling. The official said 12 units, including 60 fire and EMS personnel responded. An investigation found fire in the walls between the first and third floors, and was placed under control at 10.56 p.m. There were no reported injuries.
Norwood News has asked FDNY officials if they have yet determined the cause of the fire.
