Officers from the 52nd Precinct had to multi-task as they responded to a call of a robbery and at the same time, a woman fainting at the Chase Bank next door on Jerome Avenue.

Police were called to Galaxy, a jewelry and electronics store located at 3412 Jerome Ave., at 1:45 p.m on Jan. 5. It’s believed the two suspects, a man and woman, fled the store with a ring. Police were looking for a black female who fled on foot southbound on Jerome Avenue, she was wearing all dark clothing. The man apparently fled in a tan suburban vehicle, headed northbound on Jerome Avenue.

Officers investigating the robbery called for additional officers and paramedics as they were alerted to a woman who fainted at the ATM machines next door. The FDNY reported that the woman did not need to be hospitalized.

Employees at Galaxy declined comment, but stated that the victim of the robbery would be taking a few days off

The 52nd Precinct has needed help in grabbing some collars, using social media to get the word out. On Jan. 1, police tweeted a photo of a suspect wanted for an Oct. 26 armed robbery of the Jerome Variety Shop, located at 3404 Jerome Ave., at the corner of East 208th Street. The suspect displayed a knife and stole cash from the employee. The suspect was described as a black man wearing a black jacket, he too fled from the scene on foot.

An employee at the Jerome Variety Shop declined comment, but the store is equipped with multiple surveillance cameras and recording equipment.

One employee from another local business, said, “The cops have to be more visible in the neighborhood. No, I don’t see the police out here, I don’t know what’s going on. The Jerome Avenue Business Improvement District will let us know what’s going on.” The BID helps businesses through marketing and maintenance services.

Asked if police conducted foot patrols in the week’s leading up to the holidays, the employee replied, “No, not really… you don’t see them on a regular patrol here.”
