The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance identifying the people seen in the attached photos who police say are sought in connection to an armed home invasion, robbery and assault that occurred in March in Morrisania.
Police said that on Thursday, March 23, at approximately 10 p.m. inside a residential building located at 547 East 168th Street, two unidentified people broke into an apartment. They said one displayed a gun and the other a cutting device, and stabbed a 30-year-old female victim in the left arm causing a laceration.
A police spokesperson said, “The individuals then removed a cellphone and a safe containing approximately $160,000 before fleeing in an unknown direction. The victim was removed by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.”
On Monday, April 3, Norwood News spoke about the incident to one female resident of the building who declined to be identified, and asked if she knew on which floor the robbery took place. “I mean I did hear about it but that’s not my business,” the woman said, later adding, “I believe it was the first floor.” Asked if anyone had been injured, she said, “I don’t know. That’s her business,” referring to the victim.
Norwood News recently reported on another recent home invasion and assault that occurred in Norwood which also involved the theft of a safe. We asked the NYPD if they knew if the two incidents were connected, if there had been any arrests in either case, any description of the suspects in the March 23 case, and if there had been any other reported incidents in The Bronx involving the theft of a safe. A police spokesperson replied, “There are no updates and the investigations remain ongoing.”
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
All calls are strictly confidential.
