Bronx Fashion Week, JoJo’s Fabulous Corner, an accessories business, and Straight Walk Runway modeling agency are appealing for donations for The Bronx’s 2nd Annual Prom Dress and Suit Donation Drive.
The donation drive has been running since Feb. 16, and ends on Saturday, April 30, and is sponsored by Bronx Fashion Week, JoJo’s Fabulous Corner, Make-up Designory (MUD), a private, for-profit trade school focused on make-up artistry, Straight Walk Runway, graphic designer, Isabela Designer, and Alfred E. Smith Career and Technical Education High School, located at 333 E 151st Street in the Melrose section of The Bronx.
According to the organizers, senior prom is something that should be celebrated. “Unfortunately, the cost of prom tickets and formal attire can wind up costing hundreds of dollars,” they said. “In 2019, with the help of The Mall at Bay Plaza, and local Bronx churches and small businesses, we were able to help five hundred young students attend prom in style.”
Donations will help two South Bronx high schools and depending on donations received, they say they are praying to add more schools to that roster.
They say the power of giving will encourage and empower young students by giving them the experience that only happens once in a lifetime and a memory that will transpire time and be fondly remembered.

Norwood News recently reported on how Bronx Fashion Week adapted amid the pandemic over the last year or so. Meanwhile, we also reported on a new fashion bill, the Fashion Sustainability and Social Accountability Act (S7428/A8352), currently at the committee stage of the State legislative process, that aims to hold fashion brands accountable for the environmental and social impacts of their manufacturing. The bill is sponsored by State Sen. Alessandra Biaggi (S.D. 34) and Assemblywoman Dr. Anna Kelles (A.D. 125).
