An apparent four-vehicle collision occurred at the junction of Jerome Avenue and Bedford Park Boulevard in the Bronx at around midday on July 5th. Norwood News asked the NYPD if they had further information about the incident in the early afternoon on July 5th, and they said they did not at that time.

One witness, whose name is Dominic and who was out walking on the day of the incident, said he was on the bridge over Concourse Yard when he saw the traffic lights which were green, and then saw a driver in a silver Toyota running the light and then heard a bang. The witness ran to the site of the impact to see what happened. “A person got hurt in a blue Honda,” he said.

The witness continued, “I was like, Oh my goodness. Somebody got hurt. I was shocked. I was really shocked about what happened. Oh, man, I I’ve never seen anything like this, never.”

Asked by a Norwood News reporter, who was in the area and heard the impact of the incident, if the witness actually saw the silver Toyota running into other cars, the witness replied, “Yes, I did”. He also said that he was very close to the site of the impact. “He was speeding,” the witness said. “But the thing is, people should know better than to run the light like that. If the light is yellow, you got to stop,” he said.

The owner of a gray Nissan which was apparently also hit, who is from New Jersey, said he had just parked his car on Jerome Avenue 30 minutes before the accident happened before going to work in the area. He wondered if he would be able to drive his car back home.

It was reported that the air bags activated on the driver’s side of the blue Honda. Meanwhile, an Uber car was apparently also hit and was pushed onto the Jerome Avenue sidewalk.

One of the drivers said his shoulder was hurting. Two drivers disputed who had run the traffic light. The female driver of the blue Honda, who was with her son in the car at the time of the incident and who was visibly shaken, said she was stationary when she was hit by another car.

EMS confirmed the location of the incident, and that ambulances were dispatched to the scene. EMS also said that two injured persons were brought to two separate hospitals in the local area, both in a stable condition.

It was reported that the driver of one of the vehicles either didn’t have airbags in the car, or they didn’t activate.
