The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is advising motorists of alternating, overnight closures of the Exit Ramps 1D and 1C from the eastbound Alexander Hamilton Bridge (I-95) to the southbound and northbound Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) in the Bronx, on or about Monday night, Sept. 20, through approximately Wednesday morning, Sept. 22, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly, weather permitting. Only one ramp will be closed at a time.
Motorists wanting to access southbound Major Deegan Expressway during the closure of Exit Ramp 1D should take Exit Ramp 1C to northbound Major Deegan Expressway and follow the signed detour.
Motorists wanting to access northbound Major Deegan Expressway during the closure of Exit Ramp 1C should take Exit Ramp 1D to southbound Major Deegan Expressway and follow the signed detour.
Inclement weather could cause the closures to be rescheduled. The closures are needed to facilitate work on NYSDOT’s $18 million bridge deck joint resealing and replacement project that is taking place throughout New York City.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
