The NYPD said an 18-year-old male youth has been arrested on murder charges for allegedly fatally shooting a 21-year-old in the head during a multiple shooting in the Allerton section of The Bronx in April, in which three other people were also shot.
An NYPD spokesperson said that on Tuesday, April 12, at around 10.08 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired at 2825 Olinville Avenue in the Allerton section of The Bronx, located in the 49th Precinct.
“Upon arrival, officers observed four individuals with gunshot wounds,” the spokesperson said. “All of the individuals were transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi. A 21-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced deceased.”
The spokesperson continued, “A 33-year-old female suffered a gunshot wound to the right arm and is in stable condition. A 23-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the right thigh and is in stable condition. A 22-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the back and is in stable condition.”
Police said there were no initial arrests and the investigation remained ongoing.
On April 13, following notification to the family of the victim, NYPD Det. Navarro said the deceased was identified by police as Jessie Bynum, a 21-year-old male from Olinville Avenue in Allerton.
Pursuant an ongoing investigation, police said on Wednesday, July 20, that Nasia Carson, 18, of Webster Avenue just north of Norwood was charged with murder, manslaughter, attempted murder, attempted manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
