DO YOU NEED A DENTAL CROWN?

Crowns are an integral part of many dental restoration treatments including implants, root canals, or simply covering and strengthening a tooth that’s damaged by trauma or decay.

Before Now, Placing a Crown Took At Least Three Steps:

First, you needed an appointment to prepare the tooth, take the impression, and place the temporary crown.

Second, you needed to wait (possibly two weeks) while your permanent crown was fabricated at a dental lab, then returned to our office.

Third, you needed a SECOND appointment to remove the temporary crown and place your permanent crown.

Now, Concerned Dental Care of the Bronx at 55 E. Mosholu Parkway North, uses CEREC® Same Day Crowns. CEREC® is an amazing CAD-CAM technology we have in our office that allows us to capture, design and mill your new, custom, perfectly crafted all ceramic permanent crown in just one visit.

How does it work?  The technology begins by taking a 3D image of the tooth that needs to be restored with a high speed digital camera scan. This 3D image will be used to create the natural restoration in only a few minutes. No need to take more time off work, install a temporary crown, or be numbed twice. Awesome, right?

CEREC® has revolutionized the restorative process. It was created with the patient in mind in order to make a visit to the dentist as pain-free as possible. The added value is that CEREC® Dental Restorations can also be used for tooth-colored fillings and veneers, and permanent bridges.

Some of the benefits to using CEREC® include:

  • Most procedures can be done in one visit–less costly and less time consuming
  • Fewer injections due to single-visit
  • No need to take messy impressions
  • No need to have a temporary restoration for in-between visits
  • Ability to save as much natural tooth structure as possible
  • Longer lasting more cosmetic restorations
  • Restores teeth to natural beauty, function and strength
  • Metal-free restorations

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students. As you navigate this website, please let us know if you discover any glitches or if you have any suggestions. We’d love to hear from you.
