The announcement of the loss of Kevin Maurice Cruz, a longtime dedicated employee of North Central Bronx hospital [NCB) has had a serious impact on his family, friends and fellow employees. He valiantly fought a battle with cancer to be there for his family. He still managed to show up for his shifts at the hospital while undergoing treatment.
Kevin leaves behind his son, Joseph, and his daughter-in-law, Rose, his wife of more than 20 years, Ivette, and his stepchildren, Nicole Montalvo and Hiram Montalvo, as well as several grandsons.
Cruz was a dedicated employee of NCB for more than 40 years. He started working with the maintenance department as a youth program worker at the age of 19, and was hired permanently at the end of the year. He was always cheerful and would make us laugh with his sense of humor. We could not have a bad day in his presence. His loud voice and laughter will be missed at NCB.
Kevin was everyone’s friend and did not hesitate to help a friend or fellow employee. He selflessly gave of himself to others without expecting anything in return. He will be greatly missed. Rest in heavenly peace dear friend. This world will not be the same without you. Those who may wish to make a donation are kindly requested to donate to the The American Cancer Society in Kevin’s name.
Kevin’s memorial was held on Dec. 7 at the Marriott Residence Inn at the Metro Center Atrium on 1776 Eastchester Road, The Bronx.
