A residential fire that broke out in Bedford Park on Friday resulted in no injuries, FDNY officials said.
Fire department officials said they received a call at 11.25 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, from 221 East 201st Street (and Bainbridge Avenue) in the Bronx for an emergency in a 6-story, multiple dwelling (75 x 75).

Firefighters fought a fire which was on the first floor of the building and brought it under control at 11:51 a.m. They said there were no injuries.
When contacted for details of anyone possibly displaced as a result of the fire, Frederic Klein of the Red Cross of Greater New York, said, “After the January 19th fire on East 201st Street, the American Red Cross registered one household (one adult, one child, and one dog) for emergency assistance, including temporary lodging and financial assistance.”

Klein added, “Any residents who were affected by this fire and who need help with their recovery but have not connected with the Red Cross should call 877-RED CROSS (877-733-2767).”

Klein said that across The Bronx during 2023, the American Red Cross registered 1,144 households (3,094 total individuals) for emergency assistance after 357 disasters which caused displacement of people, including fires, building collapses, and vacate orders.

Meanwhile, according to the Red Cross, across the entire Greater New York region (Long Island, NYC, Westchester, Rockland, West Point Military Academy, and Greenwich, Conn.) in 2023, the American Red Cross registered 4,479 households (11,629 total individuals) for emergency assistance, after 1,646 disasters caused displacement of people, including fires, floods, building collapses, vacate orders, and other disasters.
