Police have opened a homicide investigation after a 25-year-old man died in the Allerton section of the Bronx following a shooting on Saturday night.
The NYPD said on Saturday, May 11, at around 10.53 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot at 690 Allerton Avenue, within the confines of the 49th Precinct.

“Upon arrival, officers observed an unidentified male with a gunshot wound to the head,” a policesperson said. “EMS responded and pronounced the male deceased on the scene,” the spokesperson said.
Police said there are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police said the deceased was later identified as Daniel Lachapel of Allerton Avenue in The Allerton section of The Bronx.

Several police officers and vehicles were seen at the crime scene where a section of Allerton Avenue was cordoned off. The deceased was photographed at a certain point by neighbors in overhead buildings lying on the street, his upper torso covered by a white sheet.
