30-Year-Old Man Dies Three Months After Being Shot, Murder Investigation Opens

On Oct. 29, 2020, the NYPD asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the man seen in the attached surveillance video and photo, regarding an assault that occurred in the 42nd precinct.

 

It was reported to police that on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020 at around 5.30 p.m., in front of 960 Tinton Avenue, close to Forest Houses and William McKinley Houses, a 30-year-old man was approached by an unknown man who displayed a black firearm and shot the victim in the torso before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

 

EMS responded to the location, and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln where he remained listed in critical condition.

The suspect is described as male, aged 20 to 30, has a dark complexion, thin build and a full beard. He was last seen wearing a black and red baseball cap, a white, hooded sweatshirt with a Nike logo on the front, blue jeans and multi-colored sneakers.

 

The attached surveillance video and photo were taken before and during the shooting incident.

 

On Jan. 7, 2021, the NYPD announced that the victim, David Peart, 30, who lived on East 166th Street in the Morrisania section of the Bronx, was pronounced deceased on Monday, Jan. 4. As a result, the shooting incident has now been deemed a homicide. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
