Prosecutors have now charged a fourteenth Trinitarios suspect in the killing of a 15-year-old in Belmont which sparked citywide outrage throughout the summer.
Frederick Then, 19, of Reading, PA, faces a litany of charges including second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and second-degree conspiracy, in the killing of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz. Junior was stabbed outside a Bronx bodega on June 20 by a group of men. His killing was caught on surveillance video, prompting outrage over the brutality of his death.
“The defendant, along with 13 others already indicted, allegedly plotted an act of violence with members of the “Los Sures” set of the Trinitarios gang, then reconvened after the vicious stabbing of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz to conceal weapons. While today’s arraignment took place nearly three months after Junior’s murder, it sends a clear message that this investigation continues and we will go wherever it leads,” said Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, in a statement.
Prosecutors allege Then met with co-defendants at the Boston Road home of Diego Suero, the alleged leader of Los Sures, a subset group of the Trinitarios. The defendants traveled in four cars, and came across Junior. Junior then ran to the bodega where he was caught and stabbed to death with machetes.
The bodega where Junior was dragged out from has since been closed.
The defendant is due back in court on Oct. 25. If convicted of murder, Then can face 25 years to life in prison.
Correction: The bodega where Junior was dragged out from is NOT closed.
