UPDATE Van Cortlandt Park/Kingsbridge: Search for Man Wanted in Connection with Two Home Robberies

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual seen in the attached video who is wanted for questioning in connection with two robberies that occurred in the Northwest Bronx, in the 50th precinct.

On Friday, July 16, at approximately 10.15 a.m., the suspect knocked on the door of an 89-year-old man’s apartment in the vicinity of Van Cortlandt Park. When the victim answered, the suspect forced his way inside and removed jewelry from his bedroom, as well as his bicycle.

On the same day, at approximately 1 p.m., the suspect knocked on the door of a 42-year-old woman’s apartment in the vicinity of 232nd Street and Tibbett Avenue in Kingsbridge. When the victim answered the door, the suspect, once again, forced his way inside, displaying a firearm as he did so. He forced the victim to hand over $150 in cash before he fled the location.

No description of the suspect was provided by police but video from the second incident is attached.

Anyone with information in regard to these incidents is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, on Twitter @NYPDTips.

All calls are strictly confidential.

Editor’s Note: In an earlier version of this story, it was stated that the video was taken from the location of the first incident as confirmed to us by police. Following inquiries from residents and having double-checked with the NYPD, officials clarified that the video was actually taken from the location of the second incident. We apologize for this earlier misrepresentation. The story has been updated accordingly and we thank the residents concerned for bringing this to our attention.

This is surveillance video from another Amalgamated Building – specifically The Towers on Sedgwick. The Building on Tibbet only has 12 floors. Amalgamated security sent out a flier about the robbery last night but made no mention of the perp going to The Towers with stolen goods. They didn’t even post a description of the perp. This POS robbed an 89 year old man? Victim is probably a Holocaust Survivor. This was an inside job and it’s time for the purge.

Thank you. The story mentions that the video is taken from the first incident location. No specific address was provided by police.

Correction: This is not an Amalgamated Towers Building. Easy mistake because “the Towers” are 19 stories or taller. The location where the first robbery occurred – the 89 year old man – is a pre war building with only 6 or 7 floors so the elevator surveillance cannot possibly be from the scene of the first crime. There has been scaffolding wrapped around his building for years in addition to empty units on lower floors with windows left wide open which provides easy access for nefarious entities to gain entry to apartments and the buildings (running across the roof you can access all buildings in that area). This seems to be an inside job because the suspect knocked on the door of someone he knew would not know how to defend themselves and someone who would be alone after 10:00am. This is the third robbery/mugging that has occurred in the area within a week. The notice posted by Security mentioned the victim was not “physically harmed”. An incident of this nature could easily lead to a massive heart attack especially for an 89 year old victim. Crime is up in the City, however, we should never accept criminality as a way of life simply because perpetrators are committing crimes. Nor should we not provide a description of perpetrators. Not sure why a description of the perp was not provided but this video certainly helps. He looks strong enough to work construction or perform honorable manual labor instead of robbing the elderly.

Diblasio enabled this sort of thing with his No Cash Bail NYC Criminal Justice reform that provides Get Out of Jail Free cards for violent offenders all over NYC. This particular able bodied male committed a violent crime near Van Cortlandt then rode past the 50th Precinct to commit a second crime against a woman on 232 & Tibbet a short time later. It’s open season on anyone right now.

        Horrible.

Thanks. We contacted the NYPD to double-check the location of where the video was taken from and they later confirmed that it was actually taken from the location of the second incident and not the first. We have updated the story accordingly therefore. Thanks again for letting us know.

The chicago bulls cap is emblematic of Bloods Gang affiliation (Bloods Usually Live Life Strong/Smart). Common knowledge bloods gang members working for Amalgamated and live in the Amalgamated through affiliation to Service Workers. This is what happens when you don’t properly vet your staff and the people who move in.

Anyone who boasts about themselves – or their significant others – being “gangsta” or OG knows there is two places for people who rob 89 year olds – in prison or in the grave. These people are the trash of society.
